The consultation on the draft strategy held in 2016 helped to shape the aims noted under each
theme. As we proceed to implement the strategy, it is important to note that we are starting from
a position of strength. This strategy builds on decades of language planning activity in Wales.
The remainder of this document provides details on each theme and its aims, and the step
changes that will be required in order for them to be realised. Separate work programmes,
beginning with the period 2017–21, will outline our detailed shorter-term priorities as we
implement the aims.
